Is Bristol the new London?

Okay, perhaps “the new London” is a bit of a stretch – but in recent years, Bristol’s leading technology, universities, and range of venues and shops have been recognised, especially by the property market.

Data released by Rightmove has shown that demand for rental properties in Bristol has been increasing over the last two years, and is currently higher than any other major city in the UK!

Although statistics show that rental demand in Bristol is rising, residential demand has also risen sharply, with sold house prices rising by 7% in the last year. But why are people willing to pay more to live in Bristol? What makes Bristol so appealing to house buyers?

Many factors make Bristol a great place to purchase property, whether it’s to live in or a buy-to-let property, such as:

  • Bristol has been voted as the UK’s happiest city, one of the best places to live in the UK, and one of the coolest cities in the world!
  • Bristol has a plethora of job opportunities to offer in all sorts of industries, thanks to the thriving city centre which houses dozens of offices, shops, venues, and more.
  • UWE and Bristol Uni offer educational opportunities
  • The bustling nightlife and student culture
  • Historic sights to see such as the Suspension Bridge (which was built in 1831), the Bristol Old Vic (the oldest theatre in the UK, built in 1766), and the SS Great Britain (built in 1843!)
  • The city’s bespoke events such as the Balloon Fiesta and Harbour Festival
  • The diversity, all cultures are welcomed and celebrated
  • Ashton Gate stadium appealing to lovers of football, rugby, and socialising
